We donated a portion of profits (approx. 13 million yen) from the udon we sold at Marugame Seimen restaurants in Japan to help build an elementary school in Myanmar.
While the school was being constructed, our employees volunteered to visit the site and help with the construction. They also interacted with local children who are going to attend the elementary school when it is completed.
As a company providing handmade, freshly-cooked food, we at Toridoll will continue to contribute to society through food on a global scale.
Toridoll actively supports children's cafeterias. In Shinagawa Ward, where the Tokyo Headquarters were located until August 2019, we participated in the Shinagawa Children's Canteen Network. In fiscal 2018 and fiscal 2019, we were also involved in the operation of the executive committee of the Shinagawa Children's Canteen Network Forum.
We plan to actively support children's cafeterias in fiscal 2020 and beyond.
Toridoll has been deepening its relationship with Marugame City. For example, Takaya Awata, who is our president, has been serving as the city’s culture and tourism ambassador since 2011. Marugame Castle, the symbol of the city, had its stone walls damaged by heavy rains in 2018.
At Toridoll, we decided to raise funds for the reconstruction of the stone walls at Marugame Seimen restaurants in Japan, as a measure to support the reconstruction of the castle. In April 2019, we placed donation boxes at Marugame Seimen restaurants in Japan.
We will contribute to the local community through support for Marugame Castle.
Marugame Seimen makes Udon from flour produced in Hokkaido at all of its restaurants in Japan.
In recognition of the use of Hokkaido flour in making Udon, Marugame Seimen was granted the award of excellence in the product category of the Food Action Nippon Awards 2014, an award program hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan to increase the consumption of domestically produced agricultural, forestry and fisheries products.
We will continue to use ingredients made in Japan in our efforts to help increase the consumption of domestically produced agricultural, forestry and fisheries products.
At Toridoll, we have formed a partnership with the Shikoku Island League Plus (hereafter, “Shikoku IL”), an independent professional baseball league in Shikoku. The Shikoku IL, which is in its 15th season, has been promoting the revitalization of local communities in Shikoku. We will continue to support the Shikoku IL to enhance its activities further.
We will remain proactive in our contributions to local communities in Shikoku, aiming to make Shikoku an island filled with dreams and smiles together with the Shikoku IL.
